24 weeks long, the Sports Discipleship Training School (DTS) will open you up to the heart of God as well as teach you how God fits with sports.  Not only is the Sports DTS about God and sports it is also recognized by the University of the Nation, YWAM internationally and the Australian government as a Certificate III in Discipleship.  This school is a prerequisite for all other courses offered by YWAM internationally.  The DTS is Austudy/Abstudy approved for Australian citizens.

To help you grow to your full potential in God we want to work with God in establishing strong foundations and Godly principles in your life. These will hold you steady through the course of your life.  To accomplish this, the course has twelve weeks of lectures and twelve weeks of practical ministry.  Topics covered during the lecture phase include the following:

- Spiritual warfare
- Holiness/Fear of The Lord
- Relationships
- Holy Spirit
- Biblical Studies
- Evangelism
- Principles of faith
- Missions and world view

On the Sports DTS you will be challenged in your walk with God while being pushed physically on the playing field. You will take what you learn as head knowledge and apply it to your life in physically challenging and varied sports settings. You will experience a range of different sports, and as well as being trained in them, you will have chances to train others and disciple them through your example.

Drama as a ministry tool
Public speaking
Preparing and delivering a sermon
Lifestyle and friendship evangelism
Children’s ministry
Youth events
Leading intercession and prayer initiatives
Leading small groups and bible studies
Ministry to the elderly

The DTS is a competency based training.  On completion of this course students will have a Certificate III in Discipleship Training which has a 24 credit point value with the University of the Nations.

Orientation to Youth With A Mission

The Discipleship Training School is a six month course which also orientates you to the history, vision and purpose of the organization of Youth With a Mission.  The DTS is considered the gateway to an incredibly motivated and diverse mission’s organisation.  On the completion of the DTS, there are many different courses and ministries that you are able to pursue.

The DTS is also a great school to open up the possibility of being involved in frontier missions.  Not only will you be provided with teaching and training on missions and encounter God’s heart for the nations, but you will also be given an opportunity to experience it for yourself when you go on the cross cultural mission’s trip.  As Youth With a Mission’s vision is much bigger than just training, you will have an opportunity to develop contacts with people who are actually working in the mission field, either in a specific country or in a particular area of interest.
